Devotional: Responding in Love

Children's Devotion on How to Respond to Others

Bar

Everything amounts to nothing if we do not have God's love. In fact, everything we do and say should come from a heart of love, and our response to what others do and say to us, should be one of love.

If others are angry, mean or abusive towards us, should we respond the same way back?

To show God's love in situations like this can be hard as it really does hurt, but it's important to learn not to let what others say or do affect us—after all, it's only their opinion and not the truth. We need to remember this, because they know not what they do (or say).

We need to become love. The more we respond in love, the more we will become love.

Reacting by shouting, saying mean things or hitting does nothing to promote love—it only makes the situation worse.

We all need help in this area, so will you pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, I need your help to respond in love. Lord, you know how much it hurts when others say mean things or do mean things to me, please show me how I can respond with your love. Help me, Lord, to become love. In Jesus' name. Amen.
