"...For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is
worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever
is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable,
whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any
virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think on and weigh and take account of these
things [fix your minds on them]..." -
Philippians 4: 8
If only we would apply this scripture to everything in
our lives. Would we then reconsider what we dwell on?
There are many unholy, unlovely and impure things in
this world. It’s there all around us. It’s so important
not to allow ourselves to dwell on these things that are
contrary to God’s word, so we ourselves are not caught up
in it. We need to dwell on what is pure and lovely. God’s
word is the place to start.
We also can dwell on negative thinking towards others or
ourselves that needs to be replaced with positive thinking.
We can be products of our upbringing, but we don’t have to
stay that way. God can bring about change in our thinking.
His word is truth, and this truth will set us free. As we
dwell on what is true, pure, lovely, kind and gracious –
it will transform us!
Think on these things!
Whatever is true, wholesome and kind
Just and pure, let it transform our minds
