Devotional: What You Are Not – A Failure
Christian Devotion on our Identity – Your Created Value
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. – Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand. – Psalm 37:23-24 (NKJV)
• You are not a failure or useless.
You are created in the image of God, so you are not a failure or useless. Yes, from time to time we may make mistakes and have moments of failure (especially when learning something new), but this does not make us "failures". It just means that we are learning and growing. Just like a baby learning to walk, there will be times of stumbling and falling, but does that make the baby a failure? Certainly not! He's just learning and growing—and every day gets better, because no baby ever gives up thinking they will never master it. Neither should we!
God does not make failures and He does not see you in this way. In fact, God would rather you try and make mistakes than to not try at all. God sees your created value and that is how we should learn to see ourselves.
Pause for a moment thanking God for being such a loving Father who grows you into the person He has always meant you to be.
