A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he who breathes forth lies shall perish. Proverbs 19: 16 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles. Proverbs 21: 23 The words of a whisperer or talebearer are as dainty morsels; they go down into the innermost parts of the body. Proverbs 18: 8 You shall not go up and down as a dispenser of gossip and scandal among your people, nor shall you [secure yourself by false testimony or by silence and] endanger the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord. Leviticus 19: 16 Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze! James 3: 5 But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness! James 3: 8-9 He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore associate not with him who talks too freely. Proverbs 20: 19 The north wind brings forth rain; so does a backbiting tongue bring forth an angry countenance. Proverbs 25: 23 For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, contention ceases. Proverbs 26: 20 The words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty morsels or words of sport [to some, but to others are like deadly wounds]; and they go down into the innermost parts of the body [or of the victim's nature]. Proverbs 26: 22 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Psalm 34: 13(NKJV) I SAID, I will take heed and guard my ways, that I may sin not with my tongue; I will muzzle my mouth as with a bridle while the wicked are before me. Psalm 39: 1 Moreover, as they go about from house to house, they learn to be idlers, and not only idlers, but gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say and talking of things they should not mention. 1 Timothy 5: 13 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. 1 Peter 4: 15(NKJV) He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy and faithful in spirit keeps the matter hidden. Proverbs 11: 13 A false witness will perish, but the word of a man who hears attentively will endure and go unchallenged.
