"...O Timothy, guard and keep the deposit entrusted [to you]! Turn
away from the irreverent babble and godless chatter, with the
vain and empty and worldly phrases, and the subtleties and the
contradictions in what is falsely called knowledge and spiritual
illumination. [For] by making such profession some have erred
(missed the mark) as regards the faith. Grace (divine favour and
blessing) be with you all! Amen (so be it)..."

We need to be so careful with what kind of talk we listen to
and the kind of things we ourselves are speaking. Is it just
‘irreverent babble’ and ‘godless chatter’? Is it just worldly
notions disguised as knowledge and ‘spiritual illumination’?
It’s so easy to get caught up in the speech and mindset of the
world around us. We have to be aware of the subtleties of this.
It may not sound wrong on the surface, but it is just worldly
phrases. We end up off track when we continue to be sucked into
this kind of worldly nonsense. Especially in this day and age,
we need to be on guard and not be entertained by all of this.
