Read: Proverbs 31: 10-31

We can think that this woman comes across as a ‘superwoman’ with everything she does. How many of us can say we do all that? But as I was reading this chapter, I started to see ‘spiritual meanings’ behind it.

In V: 15(Amp) it says ‘She rises while it is yet night and gets [spiritual] food for her household’. ‘With her savings [of time and strength] she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard.’ (V: 16) I thought this could refer to planting spiritual seeds in her children’s lives, which will grow to be ‘fruitful vines.’ ‘She girds herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task]…’ (V: 17). She gives to those in need [whether in body, mind, or spirit] (v: 20). She is clothed with strength and dignity, (v: 25). She speaks godly wisdom giving counsel and instruction, (v: 26). She does not eat the bread of gossip, (v: 27). Her children rise up and bless her, and her husband praises her by saying ‘…You excel them all.’ (V: 29).

What makes this woman to be ‘A Woman of Excellence’ is her spiritual life. (V: 30). Her life is an example of a life that God has filled with himself and has the out-working of His character in every area of her life. We may not be doing everything she does, in the natural sense, but we can be women of excellence too, by being clothed with Jesus Christ, and allowing His likeness to permeate every area of our lives. May our lives be a true reflection of Jesus Christ.

Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is
vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman
who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord,
she shall be praised!

Proverbs 31:30

Precious Lord, help us see
True beauty is found inside
When we develop godly Character
And are clothed with Jesus Christ.
