Devotional: A New Creation
Christian Devotion about being a new creation in Christ
"...Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the
Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether);
the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has
passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!..." - 2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMPC)
No more bound to the old
life, we have been made new in Christ Jesus. This is the born-again experience. The old life has passed away, and
the new has come. But is it that easy? Does our old life suddenly disappear when we accept Christ? In a sense, yes!
Our old sinful nature has been nailed to the cross (Rom.6:6).
We have received God's new, divine nature as His new creation
when we came to Jesus Christ, for His blood cleanses us from all our sin (1 John 3:9; 2 Peter 1:3-4). But the
outward working of our new nature is a process. Because, although we are a new creature in Christ, we can still
experience life's struggles and face difficult issues, which we all need to work through. Satan does come up against us, and
we have this battle going on with the flesh and the spirit. It's not an easy road that we're on, but it is a
life-changing journey. We can celebrate and proclaim that we are a new creation in Christ. This is something we
need to remind ourselves of when the journey becomes hard. Though there are times we have battles inside,
