Bible Verses to Pray on Body Image

On this page there are many wonderful scriptures on the theme of "Body Image" worded as short "prayers". It is good to confess scripture, but it can be transforming when the scripture is a prayer of thanks to God. God has already accomplished all that we need to live for Him, we just need to believe that and "proclaim" it. This is how we align our thinking to God's Word.

All scripture references are taken from the AMP unless otherwise stated.

For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8(ESV)

Lord, I present my body, dedicating all of myself, set apart as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to you, which is my personal act of worship to you. – Romans 12:1

Lord, help me not to subject my body as an instrument of unrighteousness to sin, but to always present myself to you as being alive from the dead and my body as an instrument of righteousness to You. – Romans 6:13

I will give thanks to You, Lord, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works—help me, Lord, to know this intimately and see myself the way You do. – Psalm 139:14

Lord, I thank you that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who indwells me and that I am not my own property but belong wholly to you. Help me to take care of my body so as to glorify you. – 1 Corinthians 6:19

Thank you, Lord, that you show me the path of life—abundant life! I have 'fullness' of joy and complete 'satisfaction' in your presence—instead of in food or any other thing that I seek satisfaction in. I can experience your pleasures and fulfilment forever more. – Psalm 16:11

Lord, please help me remember to pray continually so that I may not fall into temptation. In those vulnerable moments of temptation, help me to lift my eyes to you. – Luke 22:40

I know that I have been called to live in freedom, help me, Lord, to not use freedom as an opportunity to indulge the flesh, but help me to demonstrate your love by serving others. – Galatians 5:13

Help me, Lord, to always put on the Lord Jesus Christ—His character—so that I will not be tempted to gratify the flesh. – Romans 13:14

Lord, I thank you for the Holy Spirit. I thank you that as I live according to the Spirit, I am putting to death the sinful deeds of the flesh. Help me to always choose you rather than my flesh. – Romans 8:13

Lord, create in me a real hunger and thirst for you, because as I hunger and thirst for you and actively seek your righteousness, I will be completely satisfied. Help me, Lord, to always seek my satisfaction in you, not in any other thing. – Matthew 5:6

Lord, I pray that you would establish my footsteps in the way of your word, so that I will be aligned to your word in thought, word & deed. Do not let any human weakness have power over me in any area of my life. May I stand firm in the truth of your word and remain close to you. – Psalm 119:133

Lord, I thank you that you have promised me a life to enjoy, in abundance—to the full. This is a gift and a promise. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy this gift. Lord, my fixation on 'body image' is merely the enemy trying to steal, kill and destroy my true image—and it's all a lie! Help me, Lord, to throw the idol of 'body image' down and embrace the truth of who I am in you, and the promise of life in abundance. – John 10:10

Lord, I thank you for the high price I was bought for—the precious blood of Jesus, and for making me your very own. Help me, Lord, to always honour and glorify you with my body. – 1 Corinthians 6:20

Help me, Lord, to live according to the Spirit—setting my mind on the things of the Spirit, your will and your purpose. Help me not to live according to my flesh which gratifies the body because this is not how I want to live and it doesn't represent you—I need your help, because it's something I can't do on my own. Thank you, Jesus! – Romans 8:5

Help me, Lord, to do all to the glory of you—whether eating, drinking or in any other pursuits. Let me bring glory and honour to you through my whole life and with my whole being. – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Lord, I know charm is deceptive and superficial beauty is vain—because it exalts the flesh. But a woman who fears you—reverently worships, obeys, serves and trusts you with awe-filled respect, she shall be praised. Lord, help me become a woman like this—cultivating this kind of relationship with you. Help me not to pursue superficial beauty, because it does not last and it does not define me—but rather to pursue and cultivate the beauty of Jesus within. This is lasting beauty! In Jesus name, I pray. – Proverbs 31:30
